Last Friday’s evening was a huge success, with over 60 people enjoying a hot dinner and games in the Hall here at the Berkeley Centre. Why not come along for good hot food, company and fun. FIAM hands out hampers at the end of the evening.

The dinner & games nights are held  every 4th Friday night from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.

Happiness is artistic kids gaining confidence with our very successful Illustration-Hub Visual Arts Program for 5-15s.

Our current 8-week series of Workshops are running on:

Mondays from 7th May (except the 11 June long weekend) from 3.30 pm – 5 pm.

  1. Goldfish with oil pastel on black cover paper,
  2. Landscape painting with acrylics,
  3. Colourful Butterfly with acrylics,
  4. Perspective-Building ( technique) with markers, colour pencils, oil-pastel and acrylics.

Gill Holton has been hosting Johnny and the kids here at the Berkeley Centre for the workshops. She has written on BVNC’s Facebook page: There is still time for children to join the group as they will be given a catch up session whilst the other children work on their current project.We had a number of 5 year olds going in age up to 11 years. All ages were very creative and had fun learning.[/colored_box]

From Thursday 18th January, we will usually have fresh fruit and vegetables, and occasionally bread, on Mondays and Thursdays from 12 noon.

  • Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre obtains surplus fresh fruit and vegetables through the Second Bite Program, which organises the provision of surplus fresh food to community food programs around Australia.  We obtain our surplus food from Coles at Chittaway Bay.From Thursday 18th January, we will usually have fresh fruit and vegetables, and occasionally bread, on Mondays and Thursdays from 12 noon.

  • Our sister Neighbourhood Centre, Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre, has a  discount Food Store which is open Monday to Thursday from 9am—3pm,  free day-old bread on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and fresh surplus fresh fruit and vegetables after 1 pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Frozen bread is usually available any time Monday to Thursday 9am-3pm. BBNC can provide additional food help for people in extreme circumstances. Anyone with internet access can now view the Online catalogue. Members can also log in and renew loans, reserve toys for borrowing, and access their member data such as current loans and due dates, at the click of a button. Our Online service can be used by members on any device, including smartphones.

Bilby Toy Library Joining fees are:

  • Family 6 months – $20
  • 6 months concession – $10
  • 1 year – $35
  • 1 year concession – $15

Our membership prices are very reasonable, and open up a world of toys, books, costumes and play experiences parents could could not otherwise afford. Toy library membership would make a great present for a family member or friend with children under 5. Study shows income support payments inadequate/NSW Rebate Increase Update

Basic standard of living costs (including food and energy bills) exceeded welfare payments by $47 to $126 per week, according to the study. … Read more

Berkeley Vale Neighbourhood Centre and our sister Centre Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centre are Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) providers. The EAPA Scheme, currently run by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, helps people experiencing a short term financial crisis or emergency to pay their electricity or natural gas bill. The scheme helps people stay connected to essential energy services during a financial crisis. Rebate Increase Update 4/9/17: The NSW Government has just announced changes to the Energy Account Payment Assistance (EAPA) program and the energy rebates. For EAPA, the new limits are up to 6 vouchers ($300) per bill and up to 12 vouchers ($600) per year for both electricity and gas accounts. Information about the other rebate changes, which will be implemented ‘as early as possible’ is shown below.
